PROGRAM SUMMARY AND LEARNING OUTCOMES: The majority of households in America report having at least 1 video gamer, and 1 video gaming console. As the video gamer community continues to expand to include individuals from all ages, backgrounds, and cultures, counselors must be equipped to provide empathic, effective, and culturally informed care to this group. With the rise of technology use amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, counselors are encountering an increasing number of clients with video gaming interests. In this session, participants will (1) be exposed to video gaming and video gamer culture, (2) information surrounding ethical care with video gamers, (3) practical considerations for working with this population, and (4) resources for additional training.
